Craftsman

The Craftsman style home is positioned within the stringent parameters of the sloping lot, driveway, existing pool and the mature landscaping. The horizontal siding, sidewall shingles, heavy timber detailing and granite facing anchor the house to the site and impart a sense of old but not old-fashioned.

The requirement to provide a better connection between the main floor and pool resulted in a large built-up patio area with fireplace as an outdoor extension to the family room.

Energy efficient, (low E) vinyl windows, direct-vent high efficiency gas forced air heating and cooling systems service the home. Although the kitchen / family, dining, living and entry areas are essential open; gentle arches, floor elevation changes, columns and fireplace elements break up the long views and define each room as individual spaces. Painted and stained maple cabinets, granite counters, tumbled marble tiles and quarter-cut dark stained oak floors complete the homes interior.

Established Neighbourhood

A corner lot in an established neighbourhood, this home is street appeal from two sides. Siting provides a formal front yard, private outdoor areas and respects existing trees. The architecture is 'Craftsman' style, including: generous front porch, low-pitched roofs, robust details and natural materials (cedar shingles, stonework, wood windows) rendered in rich earth tones. Built for a young family, planning provides for future conversions of children's bedrooms into a living room. An open, bright kitchen/family area, with stone, tile and wood finishes, built-ins, deck access and a fireplace focus, is the heart of this mannered home.

Upper Edgemont

This Upper Edgemont Custom Home is a favorite of the architect. The owner wanted the million dollar beauty constructed for his growing family.

"I contracted API Construction to build my new home in North Vancouver on a construction management contract and my house is now complete and I am extremely satisfied with the final product."
